Indirect emissions from employee travel related to business activities, including air, rail and car
travel as well as hotel stays, where the means of transport and accommodation are not owned or
operated by STEFFCA.
Indirect emissions from employee commuting between home and the workplace in vehicles not
owned or controlled by STEFFCA.

Emissions in category 6 have been calculated based on STEFFCA’s travel data and
average emission factors for transport
and hotel stays. The data foundation
includes travel distances for 昀氀ights, hire
cars, taxis, buses and trains, where relevant, as well as the number of hotel stays
and number of travellers per business
trip. Air travel has been calculated in
passenger kilometres by multiplying the
travel distance by the number of travellers. The number of passenger kilometres
is then multiplied by relevant emission
factors for air transport. Other modes of
transport have been calculated based on
either kilometres or passenger kilometres,
depending on the unit of the emission
factor. Hotel stays have been calculated
based on the number of room nights.
The emission factors are based on the
UK Government GHG Conversion Factors
for Company Reporting and are stated in
kg CO₂e/passenger kilometre for 昀氀ights,
trains, buses and taxis, kg CO₂e/km for
car transport and kg CO₂e/room night for
hotel stays.

Emissions in category 7 have been
calculated based on employee commuting data and relevant emission factors
for the modes of transport used. The
data foundation consists of information
on commuting distance, number of
commuting days and primary mode of
transport per employee. The daily commuting distance per employee has been
multiplied by the number of commuting
days to calculate the annual commuting
distance. The annual distance has then
been multiplied by emission factors for
the relevant modes of transport. The
emission factors are based on the UK
Government GHG Conversion Factors
for Company Reporting and are stated
in kg CO₂e/passenger kilometre for bus
and rail, and kg CO₂e/km for car and
motorcycle.
