PAST, PRESENT
– AND FUTURE
Past
2021 was the 昀椀rst year in which STEFFCA mapped its
greenhouse gas emissions. Total emissions were calculated at 515 tonnes CO₂e, although the data foundation was
not yet as comprehensive as in the following years.
In 2022, reported emissions increased to 1,625 tonnes
CO₂e. The increase was mainly due to a more comprehensive mapping of the value chain and improved data
coverage in scope 3. The year has also been selected as
the baseline for STEFFCA’s reduction target for scope 1
and 2.
In 2023, total emissions decreased to 1,190 tonnes CO₂e.
Scope 3 decreased from 1,536 to 1,092 tonnes CO₂e, while
scope 1 increased from 59 to 70 tonnes CO₂e, and scope
2 decreased from 30 to 28 tonnes CO₂e.
Present
From 2024 to 2025, STEFFCA’s total emissions increased
from 1,278 to 1,637 tonnes CO₂e. The increase was mainly
driven by scope 3, which amounted to 1,559 tonnes CO₂e
in 2025 and accounted for approximately 95% of the total
carbon footprint.
The development is mainly linked to:
•
A higher level of purchasing and increased activity
following the acquisition of SealSupply Europe
•
Increased transport activity and a more detailed data
foundation
•
Investments in 昀椀xtures, machinery and equipment for
the new headquarters
•
More employees and an improved calculation of
employee commuting
At the same time, scope 1 decreased from 78 to 60 tonnes
CO₂e, while scope 2 decreased from 23 to 18 tonnes CO₂e.
Combined scope 1 and 2 emissions therefore amounted
to approximately 78 tonnes CO₂e in 2025, compared
with 89 tonnes CO₂e in the baseline year 2022. This
corresponds to a reduction of 12.4% and shows progress
towards the target of a 30% reduction by 2030.
Future
Our most important targets for the coming years are:
•
To reduce our total CO₂e emissions in scope 1 and 2
by 30% by 2030, compared with 2022
•
To gradually replace company cars with electric cars
•
To maintain that at least 80% of our suppliers have
signed STEFFCA’s Supplier Code of Conduct
•
To improve the data foundation for the largest
scope 3 categories by obtaining more accurate and
documented emissions data from suppliers and
transport providers
•
To continue the dialogue with suppliers on the reuse
of residual materials in new raw materials
•
To continue optimising material consumption through
digital nesting and better utilisation of raw materials
•
To monitor the energy production from the solar PV
system and use the data to assess the effect on
STEFFCA’s energy consumption and emissions
As scope 3 accounts for approximately 95% of STEFFCA’s
total emissions, a better data foundation is essential to
target initiatives at the areas with the greatest reduction
potential.
